Toe nail treatment for an infection can be really hard to accomplish with just home treatments. If you’ve ever had a toenail infection, then you understand they’re not so easy to get rid of. Not just that, but they can be very ugly and nasty to look at if you have an extreme case. But there are things you can do to help.
1. Cut the Nails: First, cut the nails down as far as you can without causing yourself any injury. This will help get rid of any infection on the surface of each nail, along with opening the skin that is under the nail so you can treat it.
2. Vinegar Bath: Now, this doesn’t work for everybody, but you can try soaking your feet for thirty minutes in a vinegar bath. There are certain strands of infection that can be immune to it and vinegar isn’t really powerful enough to help cure heavier infections. Fill a container big enough for both feet with enough vinegar to cover all the nails.
3. I have heard some people talk about Listerine and that this works better then the vinegar.
You can try this also, but if nothing seems to be helping your doctor may be able to help direct you to a stronger toenail treatment. Maybe the infection is to severe for anything at home to work. Your doctor can give you an oral medication that will kill the infection from inside the body. It can take up to three months for all the infection to go away completely.
Another option, though extreme, is to have the infected nail removed. This should only be considered as a very last resort. With no nail for the infection to live under, it will die and go away. But you will be minus a toenail too, and this might be okay if it’s only one, but if it’s multiple toes then you will want to talk it over with your doctor to see if this really is the only way to go.
Toe Nail treatment tips work and can be done at home if you catch the infection early. If not, you will most likely have to see a doctor to resolve the problem. Just be sure you don’t let it go without some kind of treatment.
